Use Midjourney Through Your Lobster (No Discord Needed)
Midjourney has been one of the most-requested AI image models in the lobster community. The problem? Traditionally, you needed a Discord account, a Midjourney subscription, and you had to use it through Discord's interface.
Not anymore. Here are two ways to use Midjourney directly through your lobster — no Discord required.
Method 1: Legnext Gateway
Legnext.ai provides API access to Midjourney (among other models).
Setup
clawhub install image-gen
- Sign up at legnext.ai
- Get your API key
- Add it to your OpenClaw config
- Ask your lobster to generate with Midjourney
Usage
"Use Midjourney to create a watercolor painting of a Japanese garden in autumn"
Your lobster will route the request through Legnext's API to Midjourney and return the result directly in your chat.
Pricing
Legnext charges per generation. Midjourney requests typically cost $0.05-0.15 depending on resolution and speed mode.
Method 2: IMA Studio API
IMA Studio includes Midjourney access as part of its multi-model offering.
Setup
clawhub install ima-image-ai
- Get an IMA API key from imastudio.com
- Add it to your config
- Done
Usage
"Generate with Midjourney: a cinematic portrait of a woman in rain, moody lighting, film grain"
Or let the skill auto-select:
"Create a high-end fashion photo for Instagram"
(The skill may choose Midjourney based on the creative/artistic nature of the request.)
Pricing
Credit-based. Midjourney generations typically cost 8-10 credits.
Comparison
| Legnext (image-gen) | IMA Studio (ima-image-ai) | |
|---|---|---|
| Midjourney access | ✅ | ✅ |
| Other models | Flux, SDXL, Nano Banana | Nano Banana, Seedream, Kling, Suno, etc. |
| Video generation | ❌ | ✅ (via ima-all-ai) |
| Pricing | Per-request | Credit-based |
| Setup complexity | Low | Low |
Both work well. Choose Legnext if you want a lightweight, focused solution. Choose IMA if you also want video, music, and more models in the same skill.
Tips for Better Midjourney Results Through Your Lobster
Be specific about style. Midjourney responds well to style keywords: "cinematic", "watercolor", "oil painting", "photorealistic", "anime".
Use aspect ratios. Specify "16:9" or "3:4" in your prompt for better composition.
Reference artists or aesthetics. "In the style of Studio Ghibli" or "Wes Anderson color palette" work great.
Iterate. If the first result isn't right, say "same concept but more dramatic lighting" — your lobster will refine it.
Why This Matters
The old Midjourney workflow: open Discord → go to Midjourney server → type /imagine → wait → download → send to whoever needs it.
The lobster workflow: tell your lobster what you need → it generates → sends it directly to your WhatsApp/Telegram/Slack.
That's the difference between a tool you use and an assistant that does it for you.
